How do I show purchases on my stream with a goal bar and Twitch chat?

For creators3 min readUpdated 1 Oct 2026

Add your overlay link to OBS, Streamlabs or TikTok Live Studio, show a goal bar for a Piggy Pot, and let the Spenny Piggy bot announce each purchase in your Twitch chat while your overlay is switched on.

Open Account Settings → Creator Studio → Stream overlay. From there you can put purchase alerts on your stream, add a goal bar, and have each purchase announced in your Twitch chat. Each one is optional, but the chat announcements run off your overlay: the overlay must stay switched on for the bot to post, even if you never add the alert link to your scene.

Put alerts on your stream

  1. Copy Your alert link from the Stream overlay page.
  2. Add it to OBS, Streamlabs or TikTok Live Studio as a browser source and place it on top of your scene. The background is see-through.
  3. Press Send a test to my stream to check it appears. Test alerts carry a TEST ALERT badge, so viewers never mistake one for a real purchase.

The full guide, including sizes, styles and replays, is in how do I show purchases on my live stream.

Add a goal bar

The goal bar shows progress towards a Piggy Pot you choose, so viewers can watch it fill as supporters unlock your pot. In the Goal bar section of the Stream overlay page, pick the pot under Which pot?, copy Your goal bar link, and add it as another browser source, the same size as your alert link. On stream the bar sits just above the supporter strip.

  • The bar shows a percentage only, unless you turn on Show the amounts.
  • Only your live Piggy Pots with a goal amount can go on stream. If the pot you picked stops being live, the bar is hidden until you pick another.
  • It updates on its own while you are live — you do not need to touch your streaming software.

Announce purchases in your Twitch chat

  1. On the Stream overlay page, press Connect Twitch and approve the request on Twitch. If you signed in with Twitch, you may already be connected.
  2. Connecting turns the bot on for you — Announce purchases in chat, in the Twitch chat bot section, is already switched on.
  3. Press Send test message and check it arrives in your chat.

From then on, the Spenny Piggy bot posts a short line in your chat each time someone buys from you, with what they unlocked and a link to your page. It follows your overlay settings, so supporter names and amounts only appear in chat if you show them on your overlay:

  • Anyone who bought anonymously, without an account, or through a custom request shows as "A supporter" — and so does any supporter who chose to hide their username on live streams.
  • Renewals of monthly content and memberships are only announced if you turn on Announce renewals too — and the overlay's own Renewals too setting has to be on as well.
  • The bot only posts while your stream overlay is switched on. If the overlay is switched off, the bot is quiet too.

To stop it, turn Announce purchases in chat off, or disconnect Twitch from the same page.

Your overlay and goal bar links work like a password — anyone holding one can show your alerts. The page hides them until you press Show, so they stay off screen while you share it. If a link is ever shown on stream or shared by mistake, press Make a new link: the old one stops working straight away, and you paste the new one into your streaming software.
