What is a reward, and why does every listing need one?

For creators1 min readUpdated 8 Sept 2026

The reward is what the buyer receives. Every paid item must have one — it is what makes the sale a purchase rather than a transfer.

Every listing has to answer "what does the supporter get?" — and it answers it the same way whichever product you are selling.

The three kinds

  • A file — upload it and it is delivered on payment.
  • A message — written content, delivered on payment.
  • A link — https only. Link shorteners are refused, because they hide the destination from both the buyer and from review.

What the buyer sees before paying

The reward headline and its description. Never the content itself — that is what they are paying for.

Recurring items

Memberships and Bills add ongoing access to subscriber-only posts. A Membership must include at least one on-platform benefit before it can be published; a Bill meets that structurally, because it cannot be published without a subscriber post and its collection pauses if you stop posting.

A timed Paid Request cannot offer a file as its reward. The whole point is work you make afterwards, and a pre-uploaded file would be downloadable the moment the buyer pays. Use a message or a link.

Physical products

A physical Shop product needs no separate reward headline — the parcel is the deliverable and its name already describes it.
