The full total is on screen before you enter any payment details, and it is the exact amount that will be charged. There is no step where a number changes.
Why it is built this way round
If fees came out of the price, a creator listing something at £20 would receive less than £20 and would have to guess at a higher number to end up where they meant to be. Adding on top means the creator's price is real and yours is honest.
Why it varies
- Payment method. Bank costs less to process than card, so the bank total is lower.
- The creator. Some creators are on individually negotiated rates.
That is why no single percentage is published — any one figure would be wrong for someone.
A basket with several items
The fee is applied once to the basket total, not once per item. Adding the individual totals together gives a slightly higher figure than the basket does — the basket is correct.
